A single-item job usually sounds simple: one collection, one delivery. In practice, the item may be the easy part. Stairs, doorway widths, parking and the distance between the property and the van often decide how the job needs to be handled.

Measure the Item and the Exit Route

Selected frames and furniture can be dismantled and reassembled if agreed in advance. Items must be empty, and fragile flat-pack construction needs highlighting before work begins.

Washing machines and other appliances

Appliances need disconnecting, draining and preparing before collection in line with the manufacturer's guidance. The moving team does not disconnect plumbing, gas or fixed electrical services.

Tables, sideboards and cabinets

Long or heavy furniture may fit in the van but still be unsuitable for the route through the property. Glass, stone and fragile finishes should be declared before booking.

Weight and the Lack of a Tail Lift

Craig's Luton does not have a tail lift. Two movers can handle many normal household items, but that does not make every heavy object safe to carry and load. Pianos, safes, stone items, commercial machines and anything of uncertain weight require assessment and may be declined.

Condition and Insurance

Show existing scratches, loose panels or damage before the item is moved. A second-hand marketplace purchase should be checked by the buyer or seller because the team is there to transport it, not confirm its condition or value.

Goods in Transit cover is held up to £10,000 and Public Liability insurance is in place, subject to policy terms. Particularly valuable or fragile items should be declared when requesting the quote.
